A Summer Focusing session gives you the space and safety to bring your attention to your body. The goal is to process what's going on in your life and heal the triggers from your past. Through the sessions you'll feel a deeper connection with yourself and your nervous system will calm down.

Summer Focusing

  • To process emotional events

  • To listen to your body

  • To feel more comfortable in relationships

We work on three themes:

Focusing inwards
Focusing inwards

1. Being present in the body

The basis of Focusing is listening to your body. In the beginning, it can take courage not to be in control, but to listen and sometimes to wait until your body lets you know something. And then your body starts to tell her story. You get an image or an emotion, a thought comes up. When you listen, something shifts inside. You feel lighter.

I will guide you inward with your attention and give you suggestions to keep your attention inside. Furthermore, I am present and I'll feel your story with you. A safe space is created for something to change.

2. Inner child work

The inner child is a memory from who we were in childhood. It can be a beautiful memory of connection to ourselves, nature or others. But it can also be an experience that our nervous system was unable to process. As children we were much more dependent and for that reason power dynamics and things that happened impacted us much more. As an adult, those things can still trigger us. And prevent us to feel safe in our relationships and in the world. Meeting an inner child, listening to him or her and reaching out, helps to process our stacked emotions. And om top of that – it makes us more independent, we start to rely on ourselves.

You are very welcome for a Focusing session. The Focusing process works perfectly fine on Zoom, but you're also welcome in my practice in Wageningen.

Focusing

Focusing can be compared to snorkeling. You bring your attention inward and look beneath the surface of your daily life. The sensations of your body are like the patterns of light on the seabed. They form the landscape in which your stories come to life. You gain a new insight and something shifts inside. You come up refreshed.

3. Regulating the nervous system

When our nervous system is dysregulated, we easily get overwhelmed. Felt-sensing in combination with self-touch is calming the nervous system. It has a way beyond words to nourish us and our inner children. Instead of using self-touch it's also possible to use a comfortable felt sense in such a way that we feel more regulated. When we have our own back, we're more open for fulfilling connections as well as able to be on our own. Life becomes a dance again.
