Embodied Writing
To be present in your body and write from there
To be seen and met through your writing
To feel inspired by the language of your body
The Embodied Writing Circle is a weekly space to bring attention to your body and start writing from there. The aim of this group is to practice writing while staying connected to our inner world. This will bring more moments of inspiration and a sense of connection with ourselves and the other writers in this Circle. Each session will focus on a different aspect of writing.
Each circle consists of three parts:
1. Listening to our body
We will start with a Focusing or embodied meditation. This will ground your energy in your body and make you aware of how your different body parts; like your skin, your spine and heart, feel today. As we zoom into our body it might start to tell it's stories as images, words or feelings come to surface.
Listening to my body is something I am fond of and try to integrate in all aspects of my life; relationships, hobbies, work and writing. Writing from my body lights me up and makes me feel connected to myself.
Expressing ourselves is a way to become more of ourselves.
2. An embodied writing prompt
Woven into the Focusing meditation is a writing prompt which can be used during the 20 minutes we write together. But you can also write on your own project or do stream of consciousness writing, I will invite you to follow your own source of inspiration.
The writing prompts will help you explore a part of storytelling, for example the setting of a story, how does it feel when your character is in a different landscape? How does landscape inform your story? We will play with zooming in and zooming out to get a better picture of your story or get in touch with different emotions that drive a story.
All prompts will be connected to the body and the way we experience life from our body.
3. Sharing experiences
We come together in the circle or in break-out rooms and we share what we have written with each other. As we listen to the stories of others (it doesn't have to be anything fancy or finished) we notice what happens in our bodies. Which part of my body is touched? Do any images or feelings arise as I am listening? We share our experience of the story.
I noticed that an embodied way of listening to the stories of others fulfills me, because the story comes alive within me. And it is also very beautiful to be seen in this way. As if our story is carried forward and we know it's worth.

A little embodied writing prompt
What story does your body tell when you see this image?
How does your heart feel when looking at the leaf soaked in rain? And what feelings emerge in your heart when you look at all the blue circles falling out of the sky? Does your heart feel different?
Start a little story about your heart... And if you want to send it to me, I would be delighted and I will response in an embodied way.
Please contact me to join the Embodied Writing Circle, if you have a question or want to receive the newsletter.
I love to hear from you and I wil reply personally.
