An individual Focusing session gives you the space and safety to bring your attention to your body. The goal is that you can process what is currently going on in your life in terms of relationships, emotions that you are facing or the lack of connection. Through the sessions and short exercises for at home you will feel a deeper connection with yourself and the people around you.
Focusing
To process emotional events
To listen to your body
To feel more comfortable in relationships
We work on three themes:
1. Being present in the body
The basis of Focusing is formed by listening to your body. In the beginning, it can take courage not to be in control, but to listen and sometimes to wait until your body lets you know something. And then your body starts to tell you a story. You get an image or an emotion, a thought comes along and when you listen to it, it gives you a feeling of satisfaction. Something in you is heard and feels seen.
I will guide you inward with your attention and give you suggestions to keep your attention inside. Furthermore, I am present in a listening way and I feel your story with you. So that a safe space is created for you to be with your emotions.
2. Inner child work
Meeting your inner child in a Focusing session, it often comes naturally. When you notice that a feeling has been present in your body for a long time, it is often about something that originated in your childhood. Then you looked at the world with different eyes and you were a lot more dependent. Little by little, such an inner child shows up and you can build up contact.
Inner child work has always suited me. I love to hang out with children, both with the neighbors from the street and with my own inner children or those of clients. Sometimes it takes some patience to build a bond because they can be shy or afraid of you. But your patience is usually rewarded and then there is a blush on your cheeks and you feel a bit more safe and taken-care of in life.
3. The inner critic
The inner critic can interfere with our lives in many ways. He or she can be clearly present in our lives when we hear a critical voice while we are doing something, or when we have negative thoughts about ourselves.
The critic can also sneak into your life without you even realizing it. You suddenly feel exhausted and prefer to withdraw.
Usually that feeling doesn't just go away easily. Fighting or fleeing doesn't make much sense. With Focusing we opt for a friendly listening attitude. If the critic starts to feel safe and stops fighting against you, a healing dialogue can arise.
I have found the critic difficult for a long time. On the outside it seemed as if I survived criticism, but inside it was different. I got tired of it, couldn't love myself that much anymore and had the feeling of being stuck in my life. I'm glad that has changed slowly, sometimes there are times when I look in the mirror and there is a voice that says: I love you. And that moves me.

Focusing
Focusing can be compared to snorkeling. You bring your attention inward and then you look beneath the surface of your daily life. The sensations of your body are like the patterns of light on the seabed. They form the landscape in which a story comes to life. A memory or a feeling comes along and you snorkel along for a while. You gain a new insight or feel something shifting inside. You come up refreshed.
